USS Columbus (CG-12) fires a RIM-24 Tartar guided missile. Note the single RIM-8 Talos missile on the ship's after launcher, and the variety of radar antennas pointed to port, 1965.

On This Day in 1918, the newly commissioned HMS GLATTON suffered a fire in a magazine whilst in Dover. Due to the proximity of an ammunition ship she was torpedoed by Vice Admiral Keyes to prevent a larger disaster. She was moved later and now rests under the current ferry terminal. Loss of 98 men.
