OnThisDay 1969, the Submarine, HMS CONQUEROR was launched at Camell Laird. She was the last Nuclear boat to be built at the Birkenhead Yard. She served the RN for 19 years, famously sinking the Belgrano during Falklands. Flying the Jolly Roger. Paid off in 1990 she currently awaits disposal in Devonport.
