OnThisDay 1969, the Submarine, HMS Conquerer was launched at Cammell Laird, the last Nuclear boat to be built at the Birkenhead Yard. She served the RN for 19 years, famously sinking the Belgrano during Falklands 40. Paid off in 1990 she currently awaits disposal in Devonport.
