3 Basin at Portsmouth dockyard has long been used for discarded ships. This photograph was taken in August 1959, and the incomplete carrier Leviathan (towed from the Tyne in July 1946), and LST 3522 HMS Tracker (in use as a harbour accommodation vessel for HMS Victorious during her modernisation). Beyond lies HMS Triumph, whose conversion to a repair ship had been suspended. The two cruisers outboard are HMS Mauritious in operational reserve, and HMS Newfoundland, shortly before her sale to Peru.
