On this day in 1860, HMS WARRIOR, 1st UK ironclad was launched on the Thames. Obsolete by 1871 she became a tender at HMS VERNON and then a fuelling hulk at Pembroke Dock before restoration in Hartlepool and return to HMNB Portsmouth in 1987, where she is open to the public.
