BAE Systems and Norwegian shipyard Hamek have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on Norway’s maritime defence requirements, a move that could bolster the UK’s bid to supply Type 26 frigates to the Royal Norwegian Navy.

Nearly all major surface combatants (7/8 frigates) of one of Latin America's most capable, professional, and modern Navies, the Armada Chile, are included in this photo, including the Type 22 Batch 2 frigate Almirante Williams ex HMS Sheffield, and 3 Type 23 frigates, ex HMS Norfolk, Marlborough and Grafton.

Today in 1999, HMS Bangor was commissioned. She was the last RN Ship to be accepted in the 20th Century. Of the 12 RN Sandown Class Minehunters built only BANGOR remains in service as mine-hunting moves towards autonomous vessels from mother ships.
