The flagship of this fleet was built in 1971 and was called Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. It was the largest and most modern follow-up ship in the USSR. It had 86 laboratories and 75 antennas. The ship's stabilizer ensured relatively comfortable working conditions even during a severe storm.
