The Dirigible Airship USS Los Angeles (ZR-3) after landing on board carrier USS Saratoga (CV-3) jANUARY 1928. Both were about 800feet long.

On This Day in 1918, the newly commissioned HMS GLATTON suffered a fire in a magazine whilst in Dover. Due to the proximity of an ammunition ship she was torpedoed by Vice Admiral Keyes to prevent a larger disaster. She was moved later and now rests under the current ferry terminal. Loss of 98 men.
