On This Day in 1975 the Leander class frigate, HMS ACHILLES collided with tanker, Olympic Alliance in the Dover Strait causing significant damage to her bow. There were injuries but fortunately nothing worse. There was an oil spill in the channel. She was repaired and served to 1990.
