On this day in 1942, HMAS Deloraine assisted by her Australian Navy sister ships, HMAS Katoomba and HMAS Lithgow attacked & sunk the Japanese submarine I-124 north of Darwin. Marking the first enemy submarine sunk in Flag of Australia waters & one of four minelaying submarines in the Japanese Navy.
