- HMAS Pirie's launch at Whyalla, 3 December 1941.
- HMAS Pirie limps into Oro Bay on 11 April 1943 after being attacked by enemy aircraft. The Corvette was employed on escort and patrol duties along the north coast supply line that served, in part, the advance on Salamaua. The ship was extensively damaged by bomb blasts and cannon and machine gun fire. Seven crewmen were killed and others wounded.
- The damage caused by a 60kg bomb into the helmsman's position that killed the gunnery officer, but missed the helmsman who wss laying down.
