Kriegsmarine U-537 unloading the unmanned Weather Station Kurt (Wetter-Funkgerät Land-26) at Martin Bay, Labrador, Newfoundland. Canadian authorities did not discover it until 1977 and it is the only known German military operation on land in North America during WW2.

Inflatable rubber rafts were used by German U-537 in Martin Bay, Labrador, Newfoundland (now Canada) on 22 Oct 1943. The rafts were used to take pieces of Weather Station Kurt ashore to the Hutton Peninsula.

Kurt weather station now on display in the Canadian war museum, Ottowa.
