On this day 100 years ago, in 1922, the Admiralty ordered that the first rate, HMS VICTORY, should be preserved in Number 2 Dock at HMNB Portsmouth, where you can still see her today. The worlds oldest warship still in commission.

First RN weapon engineers train in San Diego to maintain Mk45 Mod 4A 5-inch gun that will equip the Type 26 frigates.

On This Day in 1918, the newly commissioned HMS GLATTON suffered a fire in a magazine whilst in Dover. Due to the proximity of an ammunition ship she was torpedoed by Vice Admiral Keyes to prevent a larger disaster. She was moved later and now rests under the current ferry terminal. Loss of 98 men.
