Yesterday in 1940, the German light cruiser Konigsberg is sunk in Bergen by Blackburn Skuas from 800 and 803 Naval Air Squadrons. The first sinking of a major War Vessel by air attack in wartime.

On This Day in 1918, the newly commissioned HMS GLATTON suffered a fire in a magazine whilst in Dover. Due to the proximity of an ammunition ship she was torpedoed by Vice Admiral Keyes to prevent a larger disaster. She was moved later and now rests under the current ferry terminal. Loss of 98 men.
