CAPTURE OF U-505.

U-505 is taken in tow on June 4th, 1944 by USS Guadalcanal as she is the only ship strong enough to pull the now captured submarine. They will now head to the UK naval dockyard base at Bermuda, to interogate the crew and study the boat. 

U-505 was captured by the US Navy. She was the first enemy ship to be boarded at sea and captured by US Naval Forces since the War of 1812. She is seen here shortly after her capture.
