On this day in 1919 Admiral Ludwig Von Reuter scuttled the German High Seas Fleet in Scapa Flow where they were impounded under terms of the WWI armistice. The 11 battleships, 5 Battlecruisers & 27 ships were sunk to avoid them being used by allies. 21 were also beached.
