On this day in 2004,the ex-Type 22 Frigates, HMS Brave and HMS Boxer left HMNB Portsmouth under tow to be expended as targets after serving the Royal Navy for 13 & 16 years respectively. Of the original class of 14 ships, several are still active with Brazil, Chile and Romanian Navies.
