On this day in 1944, a Royal Navy midget submarine, X24, successfully penetrated the heavily defended German occupied port of Bergen in Norway to attack & damage the floating dock used for German Navy repairs to its units there, particularly u-boats. You can see X24 at the RN Sub Museum.
