HMS Repulse being prepared at Portsmouth to take the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth across the Atlantic in May for a Royal visit to Canada and the United States. The royal quarters are in the stern under the quarterdeck. These are usually the Admirals quarters when aboard. The cabins are described as being elaborately redecorated. Repulse was under going a refit Jan - Feb 1939 and was selected for conversion to suit use for taking HM King George VI and HM Queen Elizabeth to Canada with the Royal Family. This was later changed because of the increased possibility of war with Germany , all major warships were to remain in Home waters.
