RN NavyX’s unique trials ship left HMNB Portsmouth yesterday to undergo sea acceptance trials, ensuring the vessel and equipment onboard are fully functioning and ready to support innovative experimentation.

On This Day in 1918, the newly commissioned HMS GLATTON suffered a fire in a magazine whilst in Dover. Due to the proximity of an ammunition ship she was torpedoed by Vice Admiral Keyes to prevent a larger disaster. She was moved later and now rests under the current ferry terminal. Loss of 98 men.
