On this day 50 years ago, in 1973 the last Royal Navy conventional destroyer, HMS Caprice decommissioned at HMNB Devonport. Post war the destroyer evolved from its torpedo boat & anti-sub role to the guided missile area air defence role. You can see her sister HMS Cavalier, in the Dockyard at Chatham.
