On this day in 1943, HMS Venerable was launched. Living up to her initial name, she was finally decommissioned in 1997 after serving the Royal Navy the Dutch Navy as HNLMS Karel Doorman, then Armarda Arg. as ARA Veinticinco de Mayo.
