On this day in 1956 Destroyer, HMS DIANA steamed through the nuclear fallout created by UK atomic tests off the Monte Bello islands. She then repeated the task the following month. The Chiefs of Staff wanted to know how the Ship and men would fair. Many died early or suffered.
