On this day, 60 years ago in 1963, the frigate HMS Leopard (F14), was seriously damaged. One main died when she collided with the South African minesweeper Pietermaritzburg (ex-HMS PELORUS) during an exercise. LEOPARD put in to Simonstown Dockyard for repairs before returning to the UK.
