Former USS Tarawa (LHA-1) was towed to Ford Island two weeks ago to stripped down and prepped for RIMPAC 2024 and to be used as a “live target” off the cost of Oahu this year.

On This Day in 1918, the newly commissioned HMS GLATTON suffered a fire in a magazine whilst in Dover. Due to the proximity of an ammunition ship she was torpedoed by Vice Admiral Keyes to prevent a larger disaster. She was moved later and now rests under the current ferry terminal. Loss of 98 men.
