Project EUSTON, the RN's plan build 2 new floating dry docks for Faslane. The single shiplift at the base is a bottleneck for submarine maintenance.

On This Day in 1918, the newly commissioned HMS GLATTON suffered a fire in a magazine whilst in Dover. Due to the proximity of an ammunition ship she was torpedoed by Vice Admiral Keyes to prevent a larger disaster. She was moved later and now rests under the current ferry terminal. Loss of 98 men.
