HMNZS Manawanui, a hydrographic survey/diving support vessel, started life as a Norwegian commercial offshore support vessel. It entered RNZN service in June 2019.

On This Day in 1918, the newly commissioned HMS GLATTON suffered a fire in a magazine whilst in Dover. Due to the proximity of an ammunition ship she was torpedoed by Vice Admiral Keyes to prevent a larger disaster. She was moved later and now rests under the current ferry terminal. Loss of 98 men.
