HMS Kent being brought into number 7 dry dock at the Devonport Frigate Support Centre. She will undergo upkeep period and receive the Power Generation and Machinery Upgrade (PGMU).

On this day in 1943, aircraft flying from USS Ranger (CV-4), destroyed 5 German ships and damaged another 7 during Operation Leader in Norway. USS Ranger was the U.S. Navy's first purpose-built carrier and the only one from the pre-war era not to engage the Japanese in battle.

On This Day in 1918, the newly commissioned HMS GLATTON suffered a fire in a magazine whilst in Dover. Due to the proximity of an ammunition ship she was torpedoed by Vice Admiral Keyes to prevent a larger disaster. She was moved later and now rests under the current ferry terminal. Loss of 98 men.
