RFA officers @nautilusint to take full strike action (for first time ever) on 15th August. The new Veterans and People Minister Alistair Cairns said the 5% pay increase awarded to RFA for this year (as Civil Servants) will not be changed.

On This Day in 1918, the newly commissioned HMS GLATTON suffered a fire in a magazine whilst in Dover. Due to the proximity of an ammunition ship she was torpedoed by Vice Admiral Keyes to prevent a larger disaster. She was moved later and now rests under the current ferry terminal. Loss of 98 men.
