Sailing alongside a friend. USS William P Lawrence (DDG 110) steams alongside USS Somerset (LPD 25) in the Pacific Ocean, preserving the peace in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of responsibility.

On This Day in 1918, the newly commissioned HMS GLATTON suffered a fire in a magazine whilst in Dover. Due to the proximity of an ammunition ship she was torpedoed by Vice Admiral Keyes to prevent a larger disaster. She was moved later and now rests under the current ferry terminal. Loss of 98 men.
