Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force Murasame-class destroyer JS Ariake (DD-109) and HMCS Vancouver (FFH 331) perform maneuvers as they conduct a PHOTOEX while at sea on 06 September 2024 during OP HORIZON. OP HORIZON is an international training exercise that allows Royal Canadian Navy members to strength their skills, connections and improve security in the Indo-Pacific alongside allies and partner nations.

On This Day in 1918, the newly commissioned HMS GLATTON suffered a fire in a magazine whilst in Dover. Due to the proximity of an ammunition ship she was torpedoed by Vice Admiral Keyes to prevent a larger disaster. She was moved later and now rests under the current ferry terminal. Loss of 98 men.
