Sea Shadow (IX-529) was an experimental stealth ship built by Lockheed for the United States Navy to determine how a low radar profile might be achieved and to test high-stability hull configurations that have been used in oceanographic ships.

On this day 110 yrs ago in 1914, HMAS Sydney won the Australian Navy first battle honour destroying the German ship Emden in the Indian Ocean. Her Royal Navy Captain, John Glossop, ran Emden aground after the battle. Sydney's mast and Emdens deck gun are now Australian monuments.

On This Day in 1918, the newly commissioned HMS GLATTON suffered a fire in a magazine whilst in Dover. Due to the proximity of an ammunition ship she was torpedoed by Vice Admiral Keyes to prevent a larger disaster. She was moved later and now rests under the current ferry terminal. Loss of 98 men.
