HMS Glasgow, currently being built on the Clyde, edging towards being launched. She will be the first in a new generation of cutting edge frigates called the City class.

On This Day in 1918, the newly commissioned HMS GLATTON suffered a fire in a magazine whilst in Dover. Due to the proximity of an ammunition ship she was torpedoed by Vice Admiral Keyes to prevent a larger disaster. She was moved later and now rests under the current ferry terminal. Loss of 98 men.
