The acceptance of Department of Defence first of six evolved Cape-class patrol boat will strengthen Australia’s naval capability while providing greater reliability and effectiveness to the AusNavy’s patrol force.

On This Day in 1918, the newly commissioned HMS GLATTON suffered a fire in a magazine whilst in Dover. Due to the proximity of an ammunition ship she was torpedoed by Vice Admiral Keyes to prevent a larger disaster. She was moved later and now rests under the current ferry terminal. Loss of 98 men.
