On this day in 1960, the first of 8 County Class destroyers, HMS Devonshire is launched Cammell Laird. The County Class Guided Missile Destroyers marked a milestone in weapons and sensors technology evolution which would see the Royal Navy modernise it's Fleet & Branch structure.
