An unverified piece in @TheSun today says a Vanguard class submarine came close to crush depth due to a depth gauge malfunction. Not implausible, but the report lacks detail - hard to make a judgement about just how serious this incident was.

Potentially new USV spotted in Portsmouth, England, November 11, 2024,

Naval vessels from various countries, docked at Portsmouth Naval Base. Taking part in the International Fleet Review which was part of the Trafalgar 200 celebrations. 2005.
On This Day in 1918, the newly commissioned HMS GLATTON suffered a fire in a magazine whilst in Dover. Due to the proximity of an ammunition ship she was torpedoed by Vice Admiral Keyes to prevent a larger disaster. She was moved later and now rests under the current ferry terminal. Loss of 98 men.
